hey e'one, me obviously new to this grp. hi yash! how abt others' initiative too.. anyway, for a start, i would just like to share some views on objectivism.
as AR defines, its pretty convincing once read aloud and repeatedly in the novel. however, its practicality in the true world seems quite unrealistic. y else are v taught to be more adjusing, accomadating and to delute our egoes? the competitive world leaves you behind if you keep running on ur own principles. the "misfit" or better even, an "extraordinary" cannot always rule the show!

Hi everyone, Hi Payal ,i agree with u ,but not completely,yeah it's true that objectivism is somewhat idealistic in nature, and not easy to follow in real life.But the word unfit is not right.It depends on the individual convictions, will power etc.Ofcourse by following these principals we are choosing the harder way but if we have enough patience and will stick to it then i don't think that anything can stop us from achieving our goals in practical life.Remember "A person who keep his privileges above his principles soon loose both."

I dont quite agree with your views. In fact it seems ridiculous to me. I strongly feel that no man must ever go against his principles. Once principles are compromised, then that person is more dangerous than a man without principles. It may seem unrealistic to you because you dont practice it. the world, the society will say hundreds of things, but never give up. otherwise u end up like everybody a loser.

I read the previous posts and may I ask: what do you guys call principles? You make it sound like it's a diet. Any philosophy you can think of is inspired by the social, economic and other realities of the time and the reactions of the creator or follower of that philosophy to these realities. And if the philosophy by which you live leaves you striving for the patience to follow it, then you have not made the right choice.
hey Vijay, to me, atheism is just like religious dogma; they are two extremes, just opposite one another. Everything is possible and neither one gives room for possibility. I want to hear from more people about this. ciao, kanny
